Here’s to thee, old apple tree,
That blooms well, bears well.
Hats full, caps full,
Three bushel bags full,
An’ all under one tree. Hurrah! Hurrah!


Locally produced cider was gently mulled with oranges studded with cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and star anise.  A dash of rum and a little sugar is added to sweeten.



‘Sops’ of toasted bread float on the surface of the Wassail Bowl and were hung in the tree whilst the song was sung and the warm cider poured upon the roots.
